Time for Pumpkins

Sariah couldn't even walk the first year the kids sold pumpkins.  This year, she had the planting all under control.  (Home, "sick" from school that day.  The school does not like coughing kids.)

Since the boys were still sick, James had to come home to take Sariah to her Activity Day Recognition Night.  They finished up early so we decided to pull out the fire pit with Dad home.  James said what we all felt with him home for the evening, "It feels like a vacation."

The Prophet Said to Plant a Garden

We had so much fun planting our own garden for the first time.  Corn, tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, cucumbers, peas (even though it really is too late in the season for peas), green beans, carrots, watermelon, cantaloupe, and honey dew.  Yeah!

Except for this part.  Rex and Lyle started in on fevers---5 day fevers!! Miserable for everybody.
Asleep on the gravel by the garden.

Little friend on Sunday Morning

Woke up Sunday morning and Sariah discovered this furry little friend on the outside of Grandma's kitchen window.  Didn't move a muscle the whole day but he was gone the next morning.

Talmage did a great job at his recital that night.  We played I Am a Child of God together, and Sister Clawson accompanied him for his other much more complicated piece.  He kept his eyes closed the whole time, imagining himself in "the blue room" and didn't mess up once.

THREE YEARS!!!

Ever since the big boys had gone fishing with James, Rex and Lyle decided they wanted fishing poles for their birthday.  They carried them around constantly for a few days.

For a couple months we had hyped up their birthday as the day they would be "big boys."  They knew they would tie their binkies to balloons and say "Bye, Bye Binkies!"

I know they didn't know the meaning of it all until it was too late, but they had fun with all the hoopla.  Rex cried about for about 3 days.  Lyle whined once in awhile.

"Bye, bye binkies.  We're big boys now!"
