Confound the Learned and the Wise

So yesterday at lunch Rex tells me, "When I die I want to go live with God again.  I have a CTR ring, so I can do it!" I've been thinking about that.  It seems as we get older and face life we are apt to let ourselves get beat up and lose confidence in ourselves.  When we are told to be like little children that may be one of the best ways to do it.  Know what we want and know we can CTR!

Interestingly, just reading about Joan of Arc.  S. Michael Wilcox states, "This infusion of belief in oneself was one of Joan's most compelling characteristics.  It was infectious and would spread through the fighting men and over all of France."  There you go...belief in oneself.

Today I watched Rex and Lyle walk home from preschool across the street.  I joyed in watching them.  Happy and carefree.  Innocent and unpolluted.  No one has ever given them the notion that anything is beyond their reach. Because of that, they are the youngest in our family to learn how to ride a bike without training wheels, they have successfully shot a basketball as well as any of the other kids though years younger, they can write their first and last names, they can do simple subtraction, assemble puzzles, and the list goes on.  They can do so many things because they think they can, and that's just about it.
