Chasing kids again...with no chance of catching them!

At Glory Academy this week we celebrated Washington's birthday by writing him birthday letters.

Tuesday while Hyrum was at woodshop with Grandpa, Rex and Lyle went with me to Aunt Brenda's to get some kittens.  That evening James and I were running around to meetings and by the time we came home, the kittens were missing.  The next day during recess one of my students heard a faint meow and we were able to find both of them to my astonishment.  I thought we were in the clear if they stuck around for a day, but last night, another one disappeared.  We'll see I guess.

It has been super windy this week, but one day was calm enough that three boys and some kittens had a beautiful afternoon.

Thursday, Rex and Lyle and I went to Zillah to watch Sariah run.  When we got there we went to the top of a hill and waited for the start of the race though we couldn't see the start line from where we were standing.  We saw one lone runner coming.  It was Sariah.  Where was everyone else?  Did they stagger start times?

After she passed, we headed for the finish line.  She was all by herself, no one else in sight.  I asked the coach if they staggered start times.  Nope!  She killed her race!

Friday night we pulled out the new sound board and recording equipment.

Kids were having a blast!

Saturday was Sariah's only home meet.  This picture is of Sariah and Kianna Holst.  Kianna's mom was one of my good high school friends.  Kinda fun.

Coming in 2nd Place.

Hyrum's favorite part of the XC meet--his first Subway sandwich.

James took Rex and Lyle to Walla Walla to watch Bryant.

Bryant raced this Richland runner to the finish which put his team up by just 3 points!  Way to go B!

Rex and Lyle's favorite part of the meet--blizzards!

Gorgeous White Week

Hyrum's now tunnel (on Dad's freshly shoveled drive--oops.)

Getting ready for fancy candlelight pizza.

Valentine's gifts--electric toothbrushes (and an alarm clock for Sariah).  I think Hyrum brushed his teeth 7 times that day!

Digging Sister Jones out of her house.

Snow helpers.

Got to study intertidal zones at Glory Academy this week.

We also had an emergency snow hike on a particularly frosty morning to study the ice crystals.

AMAZING!

And, we watched Perseverence land on Mars!

Talmage was upbeat during our phone call on Monday.  That it the highlight of our week to see a happy missionary.

Power went out on Tuesday evening.  Rex, James, and I did the dishes with a pot of boiled water and James and the boys played a game of clue by lantern light.

Rex and Lyle went to a dinosaur birthday party unlike any other dinosaur birthday party with Ethan Perkins whose Dad bought Jurassic Park replicas!

They came home spoiled.

Bryant and Sariah had their first XC meets.  Sariah ran in Naches and Bryant ran in Richland.  Sariah placed 4th overall and first for CHS.   Bryant placed fourth for Chiawana.  Super impressive for both of them!  It was "no spectators" for both races but I drove to Naches and James parked in the parking lot.  We are going to watch our kids run!!

21 years ago I agreed to this joy ride.  I'd do it all over again!  Thanks for the beautiful roses James.

Snowy Valentine's Day

Friday was President Abraham Lincoln's birthday and our school Valentine's Day Party.

Thanks to the Hoskins, once again each student got their own pizza for lunch!  The moms put on some great games.

They even got to decorate homemade sugar cookies--something I wouldn't have taken on by myself.

After two years of nightly honey tea...

Pooh's honey bucket is empty.

The snow that started Thursday night has been coming down most of the time since (it's now Sunday afternoon).  I convinced Sariah to come with me for a morning run.  It turned into more of a walk with all the drifts but it was beautiful.  I don't know if she enjoyed it as much as I did.  The scenery and the company was a highlight of my day.

Meanwhile, Dad was hard at work on the sidewalk and driveway.

The day and age we lived in allowed us to watch Charli's (classmate) basketball game in Lewiston, Idaho on Facebook!  The kids helped her mom bottle feed their calves while Charli and her dad were gone to the tournament.

Rex and Lyle played in the snow for at least 5 hours yesterday and are going on about that much today.

Lyle helping Dad clear the driveway.  We are supposed to pick up Gp and Gm who are flying back from Arizona this evening.

Rex joined in the fun.

At this moment, James, Hyrum, Rex, and Lyle are digging out Luci Jones and they will check on Kathy Hanson on their way home.  Good men.
