More Smoke and Surgery

James took Bryant in for surgery on Monday afternoon.  Anesthesia didn't have the effect on Bryant as it has on most people.  He was pretty lucid--no jokes.  He spent most of the week on an air mattress in the living room watching Duck Dynasty.  He still wasn't popping back to himself by Friday so I cancelled his wisdom teeth removal on Monday.  He is doing better at getting around today and made it to church to receive the Melchizedek today.

Sariah headed up to Girl's Camp on Wednesday and I rode up to be there for the day on Thursday.  Lizza took the boys to the movies which they haven't done since before COVID, they were pretty excited.

Hyrum went to Jungle Cruise and RandL went to Space Jam.  RandL were pretty excited about the idea that they had the theatre all to themselves.

Sariah had another unusual Girl's Camp.  While I was there on Thursday, we got the word to evacuate because of the fires and they headed to Ensign Ranch until Saturday, where, as Sariah put it, "we slept in sheds."  When she got home yesterday, she showered and crawled into bed and slept for 4 hours and then went to bed at bedtime.  I think it was a pretty sleepless girl's camp.  She bore her testimony today though that Christ helps us through our challenges and I think that was a real thing for the girls this week.

James held good on his promise to shoot off bottle rockets with the boys before heading off to a wedding reception Friday night.

They LOVED it!

Carrie Welty sent me this meme.  It feel so true!

Sometimes I find Hyrum taking a quiet moment with the cat.  It makes me happy.  It's a good cat considering how wild it was when we first got it from Brenda.  (Brenda was at the Mayo clinic this week and got the news that she will have to do more chemo.  So disappointing.)

Bryant's Last Day of Concrete

James was invited again to attend the temple with one of his former students.  He was so glad to be able to go and support her.  Sariah, Hyrum, and I were able to go on Tuesday morning.

Because his double hernia surgery is tomorrow, Bryant's last day of concrete was Friday.  I don't think he was too sad about it.  It has been a HOT summer and he has spent it outside heavy lifting.  Proud of him for all his hard work!

Good Bye July, Hello Bergies

In an effort to help Haley rest with new baby Cade, Sariah and I went to ML to get the Bergy crew for a few days.

I counted to 10 over and over to make sure all the heads were above the water.

Wednesday we went out to play at Shaw's for Melba Club.  We took them home Thursday morning and then Sariah, Kyree, Britlan and I hit Goodwill, Marshall's, and Ross for school shopping.

Thursday morning, James and the boys ventured out early to join Dax and his kids backpacking.  As this was our family's first experience, just getting ready and packing was an adventure.  Let's just say that before they got to the camp site, James was packing over 80 lbs. and Bryant had come back to carry Lyle.

What a catch!

The first thing Rex whispered to me was, "Don't tell Dad but I am never going backpacking again!"  Despite the rain, mosquitos, and wind, they had a lot of fun to report.

Sariah and I enjoyed ourselves hitting up three Goodwill Stores while they were gone and watching "Cruella" all by ourselves.
