Sunshine and Snow

We were grateful for the sun in the Tri-Cities for our first day of pumpkin sales.

James, Talmage and Bryant woke to 8 inches of snow near Pomeroy where they camped with Claire Gibbons and the Boy Scouts.  They said it was gorgeous and they had a great time in Claire's heated tent.

Birthday Party and Spots

Pretty sure the doc didn't have camel fights in mind when he gave her a "waterproof" cast so she could swim at her own birthday party.  Probably not her back flips off the diving board either.

Pizza and sugar cookies and 10 girls.

Poor Rexy woke up looking like this on Friday morning.  He had to be quarantined in the kitchen while everybody else swam.  Big bummer.

Looked horrible but didn't seem to bother him one bit.  Didn't respond to Benadryl so it wasn't an allergic reaction just a "reaction" to the amoxicillan he was taking for Strep.  So grateful he wasn't miserable because it sure looked like it would be.

October 11, 2017

On all the paperwork "today's date" and "birthdate" looked a lot alike.  But she got her wish, a "waterproof" cast.

...and a teal "big joe" chair.
For lunch she chose BK's chicken fries, McD's french fries, and Applebee's orea shake.  Cast or not cast, I loved spending the day with this "young woman"!

Bryant is somewhere in the middle of this starting crowd.

But he finished within the top 10 with another PR, 19:12 I think.

Hyrum keeping his brothers warm during the bench time of their last flag football game.

Rex with his trophy and Coach Gray.

Lyle with his trophy and Coach Gray.
(They really like Coach Gray and so did I.)

And finally...birthday cake after mutual.

Infirmary

After Lyle had Strep, Rex came down with it.  Two boys being treated with antibiotics and Sariah with a broken arm made breakfast look a bit like an infirmary.

Family Home Evening under the lights.

This was the lesson that night.  After a Chiawana victory, the team headed to the 50 yard line for team prayer.  They invited the visiting Kamiakin team to join them.  They accepted.  Both teams knelt in prayer.  Talmage offered it.  He's been told, "this may be a JV game, but that's a Varsity prayer."  Couldn't be more pleased.

Signs of Fall

Our first concord grape harvest!!

72 quarts of grape juice off our own vines!

This beauty in full bloom by our flag pole.  I need more of this variety!

Pick of the crop headed to family the day of apple juicing.
James and I went to Barbara Hoyle's funeral and Talmage and Sariah were supposed to help with the apple juicing, but Talmage ended up representing the family single-handedly since Sariah broke her arm, and Bryant had an all day track meet.

Autumn Evenings

One autumn evening looks like this:

The next one looks like this:

20 minutes before the Beehives were supposed to pick her up for induction ice cream, Sariah's back yard gymnastics landed her in the ER.  Date night with Dad instead.  Never shed a tear, but looked ghostly white after she ran into the house shouting, "Mom, I broke my arm!"

General Conference and Cub Scouts

Really enjoyed our weekend of General Conference.  Lyle was on antibiotics for Strep so we took him to the Sunday afternoon session at the church since we figured there wouldn't be many people there.  We were right, we were the ONLY ones.  I'm so glad we do that though, it feels so much more like the Sabbath.

Hyrum scored another achievement belt loop at this month's Pack Night.

Homecoming 2017

Talmage's first real date (without his mom) was quite the undertaking.  The boys had a group chat and since Talmage doesn't have a phone, I was in on the on-going conversation.  Wow.  Boys.  I think it turned out great though.

Carving pumpkins at Anderson's.  Apparently, Talmage was the one to go out in the patch and get ALL the pumpkins.

We were happy to host, with Lizza catering of course.

Filet mignon, scalloped potatoes, sauteed green beans with bacon,
homemade rolls and berry crisp for dessert.

Sariah's touches were everywhere.  That girl worked hard all day to help get ready.

The group:
Alex McGary and Emily Chavez, Titan Harker and Israel Poulson, Zayne Maughn and Caroline Calloway, Cameron Meyers and Shelby, Colton Anderson and Kassidy Naef, Talmage and Kennedi Christensen.

Yum!

Very handsome couple!

Thousand Hot Dog Man

He broke all of his previous records and hosted a Homecoming 1000 Hotdog Roast in the seminary parking lot.  What started at Kamiakin probably 10 years ago with a couple hundred hotdogs has grown immensely.  There were even posters in the high school publicizing the free lunch at the seminary building.  It was the first time I had ever been to help and I was grateful he had several others.  It takes a real team to cook and serve 1000 hotdogs in 30 minutes.

Sariah, along with 2 other students, was chosen to be honored by her teachers and to represent Edwin Markham at the Board Meeting.  She has very refined speaking skills, I think it comes from watching Junior Miss every year.

Lyle was my buddy for several days at home with strep throat.  Unfortunately, we didn't think much of it for about three days and he suffered from a pretty high temp. before we took him in to be tested.
