Genesis

This is the beginning of my blogging. I have kept a journal since I was 16 years old. Until my youngest brother returned from his mission in February 2008, I made an entry nearly every week. As I've looked over those many entries now and again, they seem to missing the daily wonders that are forgotten so easily when one day turns into the next. As I watch my children grow, the daily wonders are what I want to capture and remember, not a log of where and when we did what. Over a year ago, I started reflecting at the end of each day, and penning these precious moments in a notebook kept in my bedside drawer. Now I hope to make a more accessible, lasting, and visual record of the daily wonders I so treasure. I hope that this blog will be a source of joy for my children for many years, and the nostalgia that James and I know we will miss so much.

Yesterday, Talmage asked me if I would wake him up early today so he could run with me. We haven't been school shopping yet and his tennis shoes are too cozy for comfortable running so I thought a bike ride would be a better option. This morning, while it was still pleasantly cool, we rode on the bike trail not far from our house to a point high enough that we could see the Columbia River Temple. It was a delightful way to begin the day.

Tonight, we attended his first Cub Scout pack meeting.

Talmage passed his Level 2 swimming requirements. Bryant passed his Level 1 swimming requirements. Sariah is still happy to go to swimming lessons which is a "pass" in my book.
