Lakehouse 2020

Got this printed up, I'm pretty excited about it even if Bryant doesn't look it.

James took one for the team this week and stayed home to take care of raspberries, pumpkins, chickens, and cats so we could go to the Lakehouse.  We were blessed with some gorgeous days.

Dave and Taneil bought jet skis and they were the hit of the party.

I think Lyle went more than anybody else.

We saw a pontoon plane land and take off, a bald eagle swoop a fish out of the lake, and even had a rainbow.  B got this panoramic with the rainbow on the left.

The boys were out on the dock fishing before I even got out of bed most mornings.

They cast...

and cast...

and cast...

The only catch they made was one that Bryant actually hooked and then passed the pole to Rex to reel it in because Bryant wasn't legal.  I was the only one that tasted it of course.

Slept in a tent this year, it was pretty nice.

Grandpa took us water skiing.  Rex, Hyrum, Sariah and I all got up.

The kids of course ate a lot of microwave popcorn.

Paddleboarded, kayaked, and swam.

Vard and Austin spent Friday cooking amazing brisquet.

Cousins, cousin, and cousins!

Rex not happy with his owie, sunburned shoulders.

Raspberries and Wildlife

On my walk Monday morning I found two friends in the canal.  I texted Chad McGary and he sent a Fish and Game buddy our way.  After watching them for an hour they started to wear down and flow with the current.  James sent Hyrum home for a rope and James lassoed them from the footbridge and pulled them out.  He had given Hyrum his phone to take some pictures.  Hyrum got great shots of the deer, but none of James.  The Fish and Game guy showed up right after the rescue.

Growing, growing, gone! This was the raspberry I had been documenting for the last two months.  Oh well.

It must have been wildlife day.  The boys found these guys in the neighbor's tree along the property line.

Breakfast for the next while...yum.

Look at Rex's handful!

James got the hooks on for a 2nd flag.  Getting ready for our family reunion.

The yard and the sunsets have been gorgeous.

Wednesday morning we went over to Jake and Hannah's to help sift sand.

We were only there for the last day of the project--sifting 15 dump trucks worth of sand!

That evening we got some of the youth and Bishop Freeman, Brother Scribner, and Brother Howard to help us spread the neighbor's rock.  It was the big chunk rock and really hard to move around.  Bishop Freeman brought his little tractor and that made it much faster.  Ric and Jennifer were so grateful.

The picture Hannah sent after their court was leveled.

Two big projects completed in a day.

The boys decided to work some more on their quilts.

Rex got the top of his finished.

Taneil, Melissa Kelly, Daulina Roulst, and Elena Gimenez and I have been working on a Tribute to Coach Arlington since his passing.  It turned out great!

We're hoping the school board will approve the new name for the fields.

We were some lucky girls to have had Coach Arlington in our youth.

ROAD RASH

Emma spent the day with us Monday while Spechts went to Silverwood.  The kids were thrilled to take her home with us Sunday night.  She was a joy!  For FHE treat she had cucumbers while we had ice cream.

On my way home from running errands on Tuesday, Bryant called me and told me to hurry that Lyle had been in a bike wreck.  This time he wasn't exaggerating.

Oww!

This week's parade with our google eye hats.  Lyle got to ride in the wagon.

Thursday we drove to Yakima to surprise Hayden and cheer him up after his rough weekend.  Here's a picture of the wounded.

The boys were pretty excited to rip up their workbooks and school work to burn in the firepit.

It was a quick blaze but a hot one, good enough for s'mores.

Could be a "happy" scar.

We got our first handfuls of berries for the season yesterday.

And since Friday night was such a heavy rainstorm, we decided to plant the pumpkin patch yesterday.  It's nice, so nice, to have a crew that can do real work.

Quilting for Makaley

This was kind of a funny picture.  Two boys who look naked behind the desk.

This is as much as Bryant got to wear his track warm-ups this year.  So sad.

The kids borrowed Freeman's ripstick for a couple days and spent a lot of time working on the technique.

Caught them reading on the tramp one afternoon.  "Oh what do you do in the summertime?"

Or on the picnic table.

Kyree came and spent 3 days making a quilt for Makaley for graduation.  I was amazed how fast it went!

Had to take a break and go to OJH to get Sariah's prizes and take a "last day of school" photo.

We had a zoom "cooking class" for young women's activity.  I thought it went great--a lot of fun.

Tying the quilt at Grandma's one afternoon.  We brought it home and put the binding on it that night.  The girls had it completely clipped by the next morning.  We took it to the Basin City Laundromat and delivered it to Makaley just before she left for graduation.  I think they were pleased with her reaction.  That night we sat on the CHS fields and watched fireworks.  It was a lot of fun.

We really enjoyed our peony bouquets this year.

Rex is often the first one to jump on his chores.  He went to town on the floor...

and it was his turn to mow the lawn.

Grandpa and Grandma joined us for fast and testimony meeting on Sunday.

The yard is sure pretty now.

Hyrum with Mrs. Suarez

Hyrum had this robot built in no time.

Talmage got transferred to Cedar City this week.
This is from Sister Robinson who has been taking care of Talmage and the elders in his district for the last few months:
This young man just had his hair cut before they leave Salina. Thanks so much for sharing him with us.  We are truly grateful to have had him in our home and family. I will go to cedar and take him to lunch.  We are sad to see him leave it’s hard but know he’s doing the lords work. We will keep in touch.   Thanks again for sharing this awesome young man.
